How to Write an Ethics Proposal

23 November 2022

The Graduate Research School has developed video resources for SCD research students. The video content is for general informational and educational purposes only. It intends to help students get the most out of their study. It does not replace the Sydney College of Divinity academic rules and regulations, and policies and procedures. It is the sole responsibility of the student to be current on SCD policies and procedures, and meet all the requirements of the academic program.

Students can email [email protected] with their feedback, questions and suggestions.

This video tutorial is adapted from a presentation by Prof Paula Swatman, Chair of the Swinburne’s Human Research Ethics Committee (Swinburne University).

Prof Darren Cronshaw presents key information on

  • Why is HRE important?
  • What are the most important parts of HRE?
  • What is HRE? When is it necessary?
  • Guiding principles of HRE
  • SCD and HRE (includes information on who and how to apply for an ethics clearance, common breaches of ethics and more)
