Higher Degree by Research Courses
A research degree is a postgraduate degree completed by research. Only the Doctor of Ministry has a 20% coursework component, all the other research degrees offered by the School is completed by research alone. Candidates graduate with either a Master or Doctoral degree award.
Higher Degree by Research provides a unique opportunity to focus on an area of interest and make an important contribution to the development of one’s chosen area. The research and work involved is largely undertaken independently and the study is supervised by at least two supervisors.

Master of Philosophy

The MPhil is undertaken by research and thesis. It provides the opportunity to embark on research, which investigates a theologically related topic.
Doctor of Ministry

The DMin is undertaken by a combination of specialist coursework (20%) and research and thesis (80%). Together, it equips you for advanced leadership in ministry and would also support an appropriate academic or professional career involving research.
Doctor of Philosophy

PhD candidates embark on a significant piece of research which investigates a theologically related topic in a systematic, creative and comprehensive manner that is not available in coursework programs.
